De Naldi HW, black Westphalian gelding, by Hanoverian stallion of the year De Niro/Gribaldi (sire of Totilas), born in 2015, standing approximately 169 cm or 16.2 hands. De Naldi HW, sired by the famous Hanoverian stallion of the year, De Niro. An exceptional stallion of superlative type and performance. De Niro's sire, Donnerhall, holds the highest dressage breeding value index (271) of all stallions. He placed second among 70 stallions at his performance test and went on to become DLG Champion in 1986. Donnerhall won more than 65 FEI Level and Grand Prix competitions and competed successfully until he was retired at 17-years of age. De Niro's dam was a successful dressage competitor producing an Approved stallion in Westfalia. His dam's sire, Akzent II, is regarded as one of the best sires of rideability in modern sport horse breeding producing many Approved stallions and expensive auction horses.
De Naldi HW's dam has the same sire as the famous Totilas himself, the champion of the stallion selections 1996, Gribaldi! Gribaldi was the 1995 champion of the stallion selections and 1996 champion of his stal-lion performance test and has been proclaimed a Keur stallion. In 1997 he was the winner of the four year old stallion competition in 's-Hertogenbosch and according to jury mem-ber Albert Voorn, "a horse that gives you a dream feeling as a rider". He was Reserve Champion in the Pavo-Cup for four year old dressage horses. His sire, Kostolany, is the top Trakehner progenitor who also performed at Grand Prix level. In 1995 Kostolany made history by siring both the Sieger (Champion) stallion and the Sieger mare. Along-side Gribaldi, Kostolany is the sire of many approved stallion including; Bertone, Show-master, Silvermoon, Tolstoi, Sans Souci and Polansky. The famous mare Kasette, from "Hauptgestüt Trakehnen" forms the basis of Kostolany's dam line and products of this line include the Olympic Dressage Horse Immanuel (Munich 1972) as well as the Trakehner progenitors Kapitan and Kassius. In 1995, Gribaldi's full sister Georgina was the best three year-old mare at the Central Mare Inspections in Hessen. Gribaldi's dam, Gondola II became an Elite mare in 1995 on the basis of her offspring. Additionally Gondola II is the dam of the approved stallion Goldino who was performing at Prix St. George level at the age of seven years-old. The first crop from this stallion produced two approved sons (Trakehner Stallion Selections 1995/1996), Up to Date and Uljanoff who became Reserve Champions after Gribaldi! Gondola II is by the dressage progenitor Ibi-kus who was both 'DLG-Sieger" (Champion) and four times "Championatssieger." The successes of Gribaldi progeny are almost too many to mention. Many mares are very highly placed at the Mare Selections, in the various performance tests in Deurne and Drachten and a great number are successful in their IBOP tests. A great many offspring of Gribaldi have participated in the PAVO CUP for four and five year-old Dressage Horses and many were selected for the Semi-Finals and the Finals. A few of his more no-table offspring are: Zardin--Overall Champion of the Stallion Selections in Denmark. This 3 year-old stallion completed his Performance Test in Vilhelmsborg and was the winner with the highest points for his basic gaits. Distelzar--The most expensive Trakehner ever! This 3 year-old stallion changed hands at the Trakehner Elite Auction in Medingen for the astronomical sum of DM 600,000.-. Later he was very highly placed in the 'Bundeschampionat in Warendorf' and the World Championships for Young Horses in Verden. Hofrat, Reserve Champion of the Trakehner Stallion Selections, was also Reserve Champion of the Bundeschampionat for 3 year-old Trakehner offspring under the saddle. At the Bundeschampionat in August, which consisted of the best horses in Germany, he ended up in 11th place with his rider Hans Jürgen Armbrust. Gribaldi is also the sire of Grand Prix standout Painted Black among many other international dres-sage stars. At the 2006 Zwolle Stallion Show Gribaldi was Champion of the Grand Prix 'Kur to Music' scoring 75.35%, and placed second in the Grand Prix class scoring 69.96% under the careful hand of Edward Gal. His noted son Painted Black was ridden by Anky Van Grunsven and placed 6th in the Grand Prix 'Kur to Music' class and 4th in the Grand Prix class scoring 67.88%. At the 2006 PAVO Cup Finals Ucelli (Olivi x Gribaldi) earned the title of Champion of the 5 year old divison, and his son Game Boy (Gribaldi x Pion) placed 5th. Three world records and three gold medals at the World Equestrian Games - Totilas can only be described with superlatives. With his performances in the dressage arena, he has touched people far beyond the sport of dressage and ensured a previously unknown popu-larity. With Edward Gal, Totilas won Team Gold, Silver in the Special and Gold in the Freestyle at the European Championships in Windsor/GBR in 2009 and set world records in the Grand Prix and Grand Prix Freestyle. True Love OLD was 2nd Reserve Champion Mare and German Vice Champion. At auctions, Totilas's offspring regularly achieve top prices. Total Recall was the most expensive foal of all times, selling for 200,000 euros. Total Ideal cost 105.000 euros and Tout le Monde cost 90.000 euros at the Vechta auctions. His sire Gribaldi was Trakehner Champion Stallion, victorious at Grand-Prix level with Edward Gal/NED and Trakehner Stallion of the Year in 2008. In the Netherlands, he was honoured with the top predicate "preferent" and led the WBFSH ranking of the best dres-sage sires in the world in 2014. His dam Lominka also produced an intermediate (M) level and an advanced (S) level dressage horse, as well as Totilas' full sister Uusminka. From his grand dam Elsa come the advanced (S) level dressage horses Talan and Uljanoff. With Glendale, Akteur, Pericles xx and Farn, Holstein blood is present on the maternal side of the pedigree.
